Yoga Break

Take a break from your desk or phone and recharge with a mid-day yoga class. This yoga class will focus on reducing the aches and pains of spending so much time sitting in front of our computers and phones as well as incorporating some breath work to reduce tension and stress. Take a break mid-week and mid-day for some self-care and feel the results of improved concentration and energy for the rest of the day.  No experience is necessary.

Absolutely Abs

Designed to fit into your day, this 30-minute class will have you hitting all your mid-section muscles for a complete abdominal workout that will allow you to achieve noticeable results. This class focuses on strengthening the abdominals, glutes, and lower back.

Shotokan Karate

Karate can be described as a martial art, or fighting method, involving a variety of techniques. This practice strengthens the entire body, improves coordination, quickens reflexes, builds stamina and overall health. In these sessions, the instructors will help participants establish basic karate knowledge while building confidence and discipline. Join because the practice is beneficial for both your physical and mental health. And laughter is involved!

Latin Dance

My name is Giovanny Lopez, a dancer and instructor from the north coast of Colombia, where dance is deeply embedded in our culture, inspired by the Caribbean Sea, beautiful sunsets, and warm weather. Being part of folklore dance groups in Cartagena since I was a kid and teaching dance in Colombia since 2020 has brought me immense joy in sharing and teaching this art with others. During my studies in Business Administration, I was also actively involved in theatre and choir groups, nurturing my passion for art in all its forms.

As a Colombian, I will bring the happiness, vibrant energy, and positive attitude our culture is renowned for. In my dance classes, I strive to share this lively spirit, keeping the warmth and joy of summer alive through the fall. Starting in September 2024, I will be teaching Latin dance classes at Camosun College, where everyone is welcome to experience diverse Latin rhythms, relieve stress, stay fit, and promote community wellness.

Need more variety in your core work?  Drop in for a fun and effective abdominal workout with Joel, our very experienced personal trainer. He will offer not only a great workout but also show correct technique and a variety of exercises.  Workouts may include exercise balls, cables and mat work.

Mindfulness, Meditation and Movement

This 5-week series introduces the basic concepts of Mindfulness meditation to those wanting to start a practice or simply learn about the benefits of meditation and mindful movement. Research shows that Mindfulness helps increase ease and joy, improve focus as well as help decrease perceived stress and reduce anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. Each class will introduce a new practice and build on the skills developed through each week's practice. All welcome. Each session is stand-alone.

Tai Chi – Beginners

Tai Chi is a form of exercise that involves slow relaxed movement to enhance balance and well-being and has applications for self-defense. The movements of Tai Chi are performed slowly to ensure good form and body dynamics promoting muscle and balance development but also “internal” massage. In this course students, will learn the basics of Tai Chi through: Silk-Reeling warm-up exercises, the Wu/Ng/Yang 108 movement form as well as “moving hands” two person exercises. Each class will include review, learning new movements, meditation, and applications. It is important to wear comfortable footwear and loose clothing that is not binding.

Tai Chi – Intermediate

This class will allow participants to continue on their journey of learning this ancient Chinese martial art. Providing opportunities to practice and improve the form of learned sequences of movement while adding to their knowledge of self-defence, two person exercises and more.
