At Camosun College, we encourage you to gain authorized Canadian work experience while completing your studies. As an international student, you have several work options based on your program and study stage. Each option has specific rules about hours, timing, and required permits. Here are four common ways you can work legally as a student or recent graduate.

Work on campus
Working on campus may be possible once your study program begins, based on your situation and your study permit conditions.

Work off campus
When you meet specific eligibility requirements, you can work up to 24 hours weekly off-campus while classes are in session and full-time during scheduled breaks.

Work as a co-op, practicum student or intern
A co-op work permit is required for mandatory practicums, co-op terms in your program or when you are eligible to participate in optional co-ops or internship terms.

Work after you graduate
After completing certain PGWP-aligned programs at Camosun, you might be able to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
We encourage you to check the latest guidelines on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website as regulations may change.
